SUMMARY:Pennsylvania Sheep & Wool Festival
DESCRIPTION:In the heart of Smicksburg\, PA\, the seed for the Pennsylvania Sheep and Wool Festival was sown. An artisan shoppe owner\, alongside four passionate fiber artists\, dreamed of creating a celebration that would honor the journey from farm to fiber. With a vision of connecting artisans with the community\, they decided to host an intimate festival at the shoppe to lay the groundwork for a larger gathering at the local fairgrounds in the following year. \n\n\n\nAs planning began\, they were determined to showcase every facet of the wool and fiber industry\, from sheep herding to fiber artistry. Conversations turned to collaboration when they contacted Dan Turner\, President of the Pennsylvania Sheep and Wool Growers Association. Their collective enthusiasm sparked a new direction\, leading to a united effort between local creators and established organizations. \n\n\n\nThus\, the Pennsylvania Sheep and Wool Festival was born—a celebration of creativity\, community\, and the rich heritage of sheep farming in Pennsylvania. Join us in honoring this journey that began in a quaint shoppe and is destined to grow! \n\n\n\nDayton Fairgrounds 1249 PA-839Dayton\, PAUnited States \n\n\n\nLearn more: https://www.pasheepandwoolfest.com/ \n\n\n\n\nEvent Page

SUMMARY:NCSPA Fireside Chat
DESCRIPTION:Join NC Sheep Producers online for a Fireside Chat to discuss winter feeding. \n\n\n\nWith fall transitioning to winter\, many producers will now start to provide stored feeds and forages to their flocks. NCSPA will discuss what stored feeds are available to North Carolina producers\, how to source them\, and how best to feed them. \n\n\n\nCome ask experienced producers questions (any topic ok) or just share your favorite sheep stories. This is a great informal way to get to know other sheep producers in our association and in our area.  If you don’t have sheep\, it’s a great place to ask questions and get info. \n\n\n\n*Registration is free\, but required to receive the Zoom link. \n\n\n\nLearn more: https://www.ncsheep.com/ \n\n\n\n\nEvent Page

SUMMARY:ASGA Call 92: Solar Grazing Improves Soil Health\, Pasture Quality\, and Site Sustainability (NYSERDA - ASGA Study)
DESCRIPTION:This month’s webinar explores new research from ASGA on the benefits of integrating sheep on solar sites. The research study shows how solar grazing provides an enhanced\, ecologically sustainable from of vegetation management by promoting biodiversity\, soil health\, forage quality\, and local production.   \n\n\n\nThe ASGA research team will discuss their recently published study\, “Sheep grazing as sustainable vegetation management for solar energy production in the northeastern USA.” The study\, conducted with funding from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA)\, demonstrates how solar grazing provides additional environmental and economic benefits when compared to other vegetation management methods. We’ll dive deep into the study’s findings\, which show how solar grazing can improve soil health and pasture conditions\, enhance forage quality\, and provide a cost-effective alternative to mechanical mowing.  \n\n\n\nThe study is based on data collected from 28 grazed and 3 non-grazed commercial solar sites in New York\, Pennsylvania\, Connecticut\, and Massachusetts from 2022 to 2024.  \n\n\n\nWe’ll also discuss the practical realities of integrating grazing into solar operations\, from fencing and water access to contract structures and long-term site management.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSolar Grazing Improves Soil Health\, Pasture Quality\, and Site Sustainability (NYSERDA – ASGA Study)December 3rd\, at 6:00pm ET \n\n\n\n\nRegister here\n\n\n\n\nSpeakers: \n\n\n\n\nAlyssa Andrew\, ASGA\n\n\n\nJonathan Barter\, ASGA\n\n\n\nKevin Antoszewski\, American Farmland Trust\n\n\n\nZachary Goldberg\, Science Fellow at Rutgers Eagleton Institute of Politics

SUMMARY:ASGA Call 93 - Understanding American Lamb: The Evolving Meat Consumer and Marketplace
DESCRIPTION:As more lamb is raised on solar sites in the United States\, what does the marketplace for that lamb look like and what are meat consumers looking for in their lamb product?  \n\n\n\nWe’re seeing exciting trends in the demand for lamb in the U.S. While lamb consumption continues to be dominated by imports\, with over 70% of lamb consumed coming from abroad\, the growth in consumer demand for lamb is creating opportunities to raise more lamb domestically. As solar grazing continues to grow\, it will be a key avenue for expanding domestic lamb production to take advantage of these growth opportunities. \n\n\n\nTo help us understand the changing lamb market\, Camren Maierle and Megan Wortman from the American Lamb Board (ALB) will present the latest research into consumer demand and lamb marketplace trends. Their research provides insights into who the lamb consumer is and what their preferences are. They’ll also discuss the growth in demand for lamb and how domestic lamb production fits into that picture\, as well as the potential for future growth.  \n\n\n\nThe discussion will be helpful for solar gaziers and solar developers looking to understand how the lamb raised on solar sites is feeding into a growing lamb meat market. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nUnderstanding American Lamb: The Evolving Meat Consumer and MarketplaceWednesday\, January 7th\, at 2:00pm ET \n\n\n\n\nRegister here\n\n\n\n\nNote on webinar scheduling: We’re shifting our public webinars to the afternoon in early 2026.
