I researched the effect of solar panels on the grazing behavior of sheep. \n\n\n\nShe absolutely loved it! Sheep are just amazing animals and after spending time with them\, you just get to know the personalities of the sheep. Certain sheep stand out from the crowd and you become quite attached to them. I would like to present the results of this research to you on the evening of June 2nd.  \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nSponsored by https://www.solarsheepllc.com/

DESCRIPTION:Our Presenters: Aron Patrick\,  Kelley Yates and Michael Moore   \n\n\n\nYour hosts: Judy St Leger of Dutch Barn Farm & Lexie Hain  \n\n\n\nOur topic:  \n\n\n\nSolar Grazing In Kentucky: A unique collaboration.  \n\n\n\nWatch the lambcam and get excited! \n\n\n\nAbout our presenters: \n\n\n\nAron Patrick is the manager of Technology Research and Analysis for LG&E and KU. Aron is responsible for managing research on technologies that improve how LG&E and KU provide safe\, reliable\, sustainable energy at a reasonable cost while analyzing technologies that change the way customers use energy. Before joining LG&E and KU\, Aron held leadership roles at the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet\, including assistant director and program manager for renewable energy. \n\n\n\nMichael Moore grew up in the pastures and tobacco fields of Harrodsburg\, surrounded by stories of Shaker Village. Working The Farm at Shaker Village is a return to his roots of gardening and walking through fields with his grandfather. Mike is passionate about teaching sustainable farming methods\, preserving the land and soil\, and diversifying agriculture through a variety of methods. This has led to a broad skill set for Mike\, including sheep shearing\, beekeeping\, managing orchards\, raising a range of livestock including sheep and cattle and\, of course\, maintaining the Village’s historic vegetable garden!  \n\n\n\nKelley Yates has served as the Executive Director for the Kentucky Sheep and Goat Development Office since 2012. SUMMARY:ASGA Call #40: Kathy Voth Talks Grazing + Agrivoltaics Grad Student Policy Talk
DESCRIPTION:Please join us and our two fabulous guests for April’s ASGA call! Kathy Voth of On Pasture and Alexis Pascaris of Michigan Technical University speak on agrivoltaics & policy. \n\n\n\nKathy is the founder and publisher of On Pasture\, the most read grazing publication today. She’s also known for creating a simple method for teaching cows (and other livestock) to eat all of our most problematic weeds\, and for her research on the logistics and success of using goats to graze firebreaks to protect homes and firefighters. She’s the author of two how-to books: Cows Eat Weeds and Goats for Firesafe Homes in Wildland Areas. \n\n\n\nOn Pasture COUPON CODE for ASGA members:  ASGA2020 \n\n\n\nAlexis Sophia Pascaris (aspascar@mtu.edu) has several published papers just off the press in the emerging field of agrivoltaics policy (we’ll post them to the network prior to April 7).  Her research\, including stakeholder engagement and policy analysis\, is among the first to dive deep into the social and political dimensions of agrivoltaic system development in the U.S. During her time at Michigan Tech\, she has had the opportunity to work as a research assistant on a Department of Energy funded project that is investigating the feasibility of a novel agrivoltaic concept: co-farming pasture fed rabbits and solar PV.   \n\n\n\nYour ASGA hosts: Erica Frenay of Shelterbelt Farm and Cornell Small Farms Program & Lexie Hain \n\n\n\nWith thanks to our Sponsor:  \n\n\n\nEvents 2
