SUMMARY:ASGA Call 89: “Apivoltaics” - Beekeeping on Solar + Grazing Compatibility
DESCRIPTION:Combining honey production and solar energy is a great way to carry out highly beneficial agricultural production on solar arrays. Many solar sites are also bringing beekeeping and pollinator vegetation together with sheep grazing and exploiting the exciting potential of lamb and honey. \n\n\n\nLike solar grazing\, beekeeping on solar sites requires a skilled application and expertise. Combining sheep grazing with pollinator plants similarly requires thoughtful planning. \n\n\n\nJoin us for our annual webinar on pollinators and beekeeping\, and their implications for sheep production. We’ll be joined by solar beekeepers from different regions of the country who will share their expertise on how to successfully combine honey production and solar energy. They’ll provide an introduction to their solar apiary operations\, discuss beehive placement on solar sites\, and how to work with solar developers. \n\n\n\nAt ASGA\, we hear a lot about the misconception that you can’t put sheep and pollinators in the same place. During the webinar\, our expert speakers will also discuss how to do both\, including what plants to include in sites that are good for sheep and pollinators and things to look out for when combining the two practices. \n\n\n\nSpeakers: \n\n\n\n\nAllison Wickham\, Siller Pollinator Company\n\n\n\nTravis Snyder\, Wind and Sky Apiaries \n\n\n\n\nHelpful resources: \n\n\n\n\nAgrisolar Clearinghouse Solar Beekeeping Fact Sheet – https://www.agrisolarclearinghouse.org/fact-sheet-making-the-case-for-solar-beekeeping\n\n\n\nASGA Solar Beekeeping Contract: https://solargrazing.org/solar-beekeeping-contract/\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“Apivoltaics” – Beekeeping on Solar + Grazing CompatibilityTuesday\, September 2nd at 6:00pm ET \n\n\n\n\nRegister here

SUMMARY:RE+ 2025
DESCRIPTION:RE+ brings the modern energy industry together to foster a cleaner future. 2024 marked its 20th year as the largest and most comprehensive event in North America for the clean energy industry. What began as Solar Power International (SPI) has evolved into RE+\, uniting an extensive alliance of renewable energy leaders for multiple days of programming and networking opportunities. Today\, RE+ incorporates business opportunities and education content across the clean energy industry including solar\, energy storage\, hydrogen\, microgrids\, EV charging and infrastructure\, and wind energy. \n\n\n\nDeveloped by the nation’s leading clean energy organizations\, the Smart Electric Power Alliance (SEPA) and the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA)\, RE+ reflects an ongoing entrepreneurial approach to renewing best practices across the clean energy landscape as the marketplace evolves. Unlike other industry events\, all proceeds from RE+ events support the expansion of the energy industry through SEIA and SEPA’s year-round research and education activities\, and extensive advocacy and advisory efforts. Our primary mission is to deliver on the missions of both SEIA and SEPA in a way that strengthens the industry domestically and globally\, through networking and education\, and by creating an energetic and engaging marketplace to connect buyers and suppliers. \n\n\n\nThe Venetian Resort 3355 S Las Vegas BlvdLas Vegas\, NVUnited States \n\n\n\nLearn more: https://www.re-plus.com/register/ \n\n\n\n\nEvent Page

SUMMARY:ASGA-ALB Certified Solar Grazing Workshop in Colorado
DESCRIPTION:The American Solar Grazing Association is excited to announce that the American Lamb Board will be hosting a ASGA Certified Solar Grazing Training for farmers this September (09/24-09/26) in Greeley\, Colorado! \n\n\n\nThe workshop is sponsored by CKP Insurance. The onsite portion of the training will be hosted on a Pivot Energy solar site. \n\n\n\nOver the 3-day training\, participants will learn the solar grazing training standards set by ASGA\, which covers the basic subjects a sheep rancher should be versed in to manage vegetation on a solar site. The workshop includes a live demonstration on a site grazed by solar sheep.  \n\n\n\nNew solar projects are creating opportunities for sheep producers to graze their flocks on solar sites and start solar grazing enterprises. We look forward to hosting sheep producers from the state and nearby areas to learn about running a solar grazing operation. \n\n\n\n\nRegister\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLocation:Greeley\, CO \n\n\n\nLodging:Doubletree919 7th Street Greeley\, Colorado\, 80631 \n\n\n\nTopics covered at the workshop include: \n\n\n\n\nVegetation Management Objectives and Strategies\n\n\n\nSeeding and Forage\n\n\n\nSheep Management and Handling\n\n\n\nSheep Nutrition\n\n\n\nWorking with Site Infrastructure to Accommodate Sheep\n\n\n\nContracts\n\n\n\nBudgets and Start-up Costs\n\n\n\nInsurance\n\n\n\nSignage and Public Interaction\n\n\n\nSolar Site Production Basics\n\n\n\nWorking with the Solar Company\n\n\n\nSafety on Solar Site\n\n\n\nRegulatory and Taxation Issues\n\n\n\nTimelines and Checklists\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe ASGA Certification Program is part of our ongoing efforts to develop a workforce of qualified solar graziers and help sheep farmers realize the incredible opportunity solar grazing presents. SUMMARY:Iowa State University Agrivoltaics Open House
DESCRIPTION:Iowa State University\, has initiated a public-private partnership with Alliant Energy on the design and construction of the The Alliant Energy Solar Farm at Iowa State University where they explore growing crops within and around photovoltaic (PV) panels to quantify the benefits of agrivoltaic practices. At this site they explore a subset of agricultural activities most amenable to the unique environment of a solar farm\, and develop best practices for economic and environmentally sustainable production practices conducted within solar farms designed for mega-watt scale production. This partnership allows them to estimate the impact of agricultural practices around PV panels on the microclimate and subsequent PV efficiency. They will measure these potential impacts while also analyzing the multiple economic costs and values to developers\, utilities\, farmers and rural communities affecting agrivoltaic development in the Midwest. They have assembled a multi-disciplinary team\, in cooperation with public and private entities\, to address the intersecting needs of various stakeholders including but not limited to: PV developers and utilities with contracts for PV\, landowners\, and farmers interested in agrivoltaics. This DOE funded project will determine if and under what conditions agrivoltaic practices in the Midwest can benefit local food production systems and what resources are needed to assist multiple stakeholders. \n\n\n\nIowa State University is offering a 2025 Open House Series to visit the Alliant Energy Solar Farm. \n\n\n\nAlliant Energy Solar Farm 52166 260th StAmes\, IAUnited States \n\n\n\nLearn more: https://agrivoltaics.research.iastate.edu/ \n\n\n\n\nRegister
