Graze a Million

It’s time for solar developers and solar O&M specialists to commit to agrivoltaics.

The 2024 American Solar Grazing Association (ASGA) U.S. Solar Grazing Census reported that 130,000 acres of solar were grazed on over 500 sites.

The Solar Energy Industry Association estimates that a solar farm is installed every 54 seconds in the US. By 2035, solar could cover roughly 5.7 million acres of land, which is only .03% of all agricultural land in the US.

These solar sites require vegetation management and land management-- tasks that ASGA-certified solar graziers and ASGA-certified solar professionals are well-equipped to provide.

In addition to cost-effective vegetation management, fire protection, and land management services, solar grazing enhances soil health, improves farm viability, expands the local agricultural economy, and fosters greater social acceptance.

We are currently importing over 70% of our lamb from overseas. There is a huge opportunity to develop our domestic lamb and wool supply while supporting solar, farmers, and rural communities.

We have the workforce, the land, and the resources; we need solar developers to commit to solar grazing.

We challenge the solar industry to commit to graze one million acres of land by 2035.

ASGA is partnering with the following organizations to build excitement behind the movement: American Sheep Industry, American Lamb Board, American Farmland Trust, Solar Farm Summit, and the National Grazing Lands Coalition.
