ASGA Teatime Replay: Survey Says! Co-ops Needed to Support Large-Scale Solar Grazing (Cornell Survey)

For our last ASGA event of 2023, Dr. Bobbie Severson from the Cornell University Cooperative Enterprise Program (CEP) joined us to discuss their recent utility-scale solar grazing survey. Bobbie broke down the survey results, with a focus on the Northeast. 

One of the key findings from the survey was the need for a producer-led organization or cooperative to provide services to overcome the challenges of grazing sheep on utility-scale solar arrays. Those services include negotiating contracts, providing insurance and transport, and managing sheep once on site, among others.

Bobbie provided a fascinating and in-depth discussion of potential next steps to assist farmers to form cooperatives or producers-led organizations.
