In Northeast Indiana, Greg and Evan Gunthorp raise nutrient-dense, grass-fed lamb on 1,000 acres of solar. The Gunthorps farm sheep on the solar energy site exactly the same way they do on their home farm, but now with many more acres to grow their flock.
Before solar grazing, Greg Gunthorp was a pioneer in the farm-to-table movement. Selling his pasture-raised pigs directly to high quality restaurants allowed him to prosper as an independent farmer.
The Gunthorps understand that family farms have to keep innovating to stay relevant. They see solar grazing as that next big opportunity for independent family farms to thrive.

I can remember a time when rural America was economically vibrant, when there were many small family farms. You could actually purchase a farm, you could actually support a family. You can no longer do that.
Solar grazing has the opportunity to change that because the biggest hurdles to becoming a farmer are land access and land affordability.

The Gunthorps own and operate Gunthorp Farms, a regenerative pasture pig farm, and Traditional Grazing Solutions, a solar grazing operation based in LaGrange, Indiana. They currently graze a large, utility-scale solar site near South Bend, IN.
