ASGA Call 88: Update on Rutgers Agrivoltaics Research – Hay, Soybeans, Vegetables, and Beef Cows
July 9, 2025 @ 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm EDT
For our July webinar, we’ve invited the folks at the Rutgers Agrivoltaics Program to discuss their ongoing research in New Jersey. Across three sites, they are investigating the impact of agrivoltaics on the yield and quality of hay crops, field crops, and vegetables. As part of the research project, the team is investigating the potential for solar beef cows using a vertical bi-facial system. Their research looks at the impact of those vertical bi-facial panels on pasture production and animal grazing patterns when coupled with large animal production.
Dave Specca, Rutgers Agrivoltaics Program Lead, will present on the results of the first year’s crop trials for hay, soybean, and vegetable crops. He will also discuss the vertical bifacial system they have installed for their solar beef cow trial.
