Ecovoltaics
May 26 @ 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm EDT
The area under solar panels can also be used to create habitat for natural vegetation and related ecosystem services, such as pollinator habitat, biodiversity conservation, carbon storage and more. In this seminar we explore examples of “ecovoltaics”.
Speakers:
- Juan Pinos, Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, who will present on the impacts of solar panels on temperature and soil moisture in a desert ecosystem (in Spanish).
- Matthew O’Neal, Professor of Entomology at Iowa State University, will present on the impact of agrivoltaics on pollinator and insect communities (in English).
