My name is Raia Olsen, and together with my husband and our four young children, we graze on multiple projects throughout the island of O’ahu. We also raise cattle locally. We have been so grateful to start in the solar sheep grazing world in 2018 that it keeps us constantly looking for creative solutions and ideas. Hawai’i is so different from other climates and poses its own benefits and struggles. We have grown and learned so much from our ongoing solar sheep grazing ‘science project’ as we often call it and we look forward to more growth.
Raia also serves on the ASGA Advisory Board. Learn more about Oahu Grazers here: https://www.oahugrazers.com/
As we celebrate the International Year of the Woman Farmer, ASGA is proud to recognize the women across our solar grazing community who are advancing agriculture through innovation, stewardship, and leadership. Follow along as we share their stories and celebrate the many ways they’re helping shape the future of farming. Happy International Year of the Woman Farmer! #IYWF2026
